General FAQs
Is BuildDeck Composite Decking easy to install?
BuildDeck supply a range of Composite Decking Boards with a style, colour and price that you’ll be happy with – they’re easy to install and the final look is fantastic. If you have existing wood deck boards that are looking worse for wear they can be easily replaced with composite and once correctly fitted will last against the elements. Planks are easy to cut, screw down and install so are definitely worth the money.
Can you paint Composite Decking?
At BuildDeck, we are proud to offer our customers low maintenance products that are not necessary to be painted. If you choose to invest in quality boards you’ll save yourself time and money, because our deck boards do not require costly and timely annual maintenance.
Why is BuildDeck Composite Decking better than wood?
Unlike wood timber decking, BuildDeck Composite Decking is a low maintenance product. Compared to timber boards, our product does not rot meaning it will last for years to come.
How do I clean my composite Decking?
We recommend spending 2-3 times a year cleaning products to keep it looking clean and tidy. Following this recommendation will help your composite decking last longer and protect it against any issues in the future.
Will the composite Decking be slippery?
BuildDeck’s Composite groove side finishing boards are a low potential slip decking board. A low slip grain is embedded into the surface, meaning it safer to walk on when wet, making our product safer for everyone.
How long does composite Decking last?
On average, a decking area using our Composite Decking will last around up to 20 – 25 years with proper care and maintenance. Our product is highly resistant to rot and mould which can effect wood timber decking. It also holds up well in both hot or cold weather conditions.
Is BuildDeck Composite Decking sun resistant?
Composite Decking provide a great space to spend time with loved ones and connect with nature as well as boosting the value on your home. It’s no surprise that garden decking is becoming increasingly popular in the landscaping sector. New eco-friendly alternatives are more resistant that the classic timber option. It is not necessary to paint, seal, or stain because our boards are engineered from a blend of hardwood and plastic making them exceptionally weather resistant and durable.
Storage Guidelines
To maintain the best performance of the products, we recommend that:
All BuildDeck products are stored indoors in its original packaging.
The boards must be stored flat and level, and must be supported above ground at every 300mm along the length.
If indoor storage is not possible, the product must be covered using outdoor, heavy-duty tarpaulin in a shaded area or kept in a covered area (lean-to garage, shed) to prevent exposure to direct sunlight and weathering. The products must be stored as point 2.
Boards should not be stacked near, above, below or adjacent to sources of moisture.
Professional fork lift should be used while loading, unloading and discharging of the pallets.
The pallet stacking maximum does not exceed 4 pallets.
Must use outdoor, heavy-duty tarpaulin to protect the pallet when the initial package is broken/open. Do not expose the product or inner packaging to direct sunlight, weathering and moisture. BuildDeck composite decking will fade and therefore should only be fully exposed to sunlight upon full installation to ensure any fading is distributed naturally and evenly.
Any damage occurred by man-made or other third-party force majeure during stacking should be avoided.
